The Dili Community has started the Hatutan Calasanz (Learning with Calasanz) this program is a Skolapios Mission where to help the Young and children in their studies.
This activity began in August 2024 with a simple place and simple facilities because there was no suitable place to be conducted the Hatutan Calasanz (learning With Calasanz) activity process, but in October and November 2024 we started using the newly completed building. The teaching and learning process is scheduled into two sessions: in the morning at 09:00-10:30 am and in the afternoon at 15:00-16:30 pm, we adjust the children’s schedule at school, because children also study at school with two sessions, some are attended in the morning and some are attended in the afternoon. The Subject that Community offer in this Hatutan Calasanz program are English, Portuguese and some arts.
In learning activities with children, we are very happy because the children are also enthusiastic to participate in this program. The challenge we face is the large number of children, the last active number until the culmination on November 9, 2024 -with the presence of the parents- was around 50 students but the brothers who are actively teaching are still few because the current community members number 4 people. Father Dani as the rector of the house, Deacon Heri, Br. Estavao and Br. Deo as Aspirants. Br. Estavao is currently undergoing a pastoral year and now he teaches at the International School. Br. Deo is studying philosophy, but in the afternoon, he also helps teach children. There are also Juniors who are on vacation but they are also willing to help teach children especially those domiciled in Dili. The Hatutan Calasanz program for this year has been closed and new registration will be opened in January 2025.
