From 9 to 13 December this year, the Skolápios with the collaboration of the Catechists organized an Advent Camp with its theme: Growing Together in the Spirit of Advent, for children from 10 to 13 years old, at the St. Joseph’s Chapel station in Maquili, Parish of Our Lady of Fatima, Ataúro.

This camp activity was well attended by 130 children. The objective of this Advent Camp is to offer to the children the taste of the spirit of Advent and to prepare them for the celebration of the birth of our Lord, with the following dynamics.

1) The first day was dedicated for registration and organization. 2) From the 2nd to the 4th day, the children received formation on Advent, the Annunciation and the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth; and finally about the Shepherds’ visit to the Child in Bethlehem. To respond and live the message they received, the children were divided into 4 groups to visit Babies, Pregnant Mothers, and Grandparents. During their visits they also brought gifts that they had bought themselves. 3) The last day, the 5th day, is dedicated for the preparation, celebration of the Eucharist and sharing of joy through dance presentation, playing, singing, poetry, drama and dinning together.

The activity was very successful with the collaboration of young volunteers, catechists, our candidates and parents. Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown their support throughout these 5 days. We won’t forget to thank all the children who brought a cup of rice every day for this activity. They have learned to live together, in solidarity and collaborate how to make this activity as successful as their own. With this, like Calasanz, we too believe that “if children, from childhood, receive instruction in piety and letters, no doubt, their future will be bright.” We pray for each child that God will give them the spirit of wisdom and diligence. We also continue to pray for the vocation that God will send workers into his field. All for the glory of God and for the benefit of others.
